Dr. Woller and her Associates provide two different types of assessments. We provide mental health assessments and forensic assessments. Each serve different purposes and are conducted in distinct contexts.
A mental health assessment focuses on answering a specific question related to someone's emotional, academic or cognitive health and/or possibly diagnosing a specific mental health condition. A mental health assessment also provides recommendations for treatment or accommodations if needed.
In short, a mental health assessment aims to evaluate an individual's psychological functioning, symptoms, learning style, academic ability, IQ, neurocognitive functioning, and overall well-being to provide appropriate mental health care, while providing recommendations and accommodations if necessary.
A biopsychosocial assessment is a comprehensive evaluation tool that is used to assess an individual's overall well-being and identify factors that may be influencing their physical, psychological, and social functioning.
The assessment aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of an individual's strengths, challenges, and needs across multiple domains.
The assessment typically involves gathering information through interviews, questionnaires, and observations to obtain a holistic understanding of the individual's situation.
The assessment takes into account the biological, psychological, and social aspects of a person's life, recognizing that these factors interact and impact an individual's health and well-being.
It helps professionals develop a personalized treatment plan, make appropriate referrals to specialists or services, and ensure that the person receives the most appropriate and comprehensive care possible.
An assessment of child behavior, also sometimes called an In-Depth Mental Health Assessment, typically involves gathering information through interviews, questionnaires, and child observations to obtain a holistic understanding of the child's situation, levels of functioning, and symptoms of emotional or behavioral concerns.
Dr. Woller and her Associates use self and parent report measures during this assessments to help understand the child's strengths, weaknesses, and patterns of behavior which helps provide a comprehensive picture of the child's functioning and may identify specific areas of concern that may then become the focus of treatment.
Specific Focuses:
ADHD/ADD
Behavioral Issues
Mood Disorders
Anxiety Disorders
Autism
An infant mental health assessment is a specialized evaluation process conducted that Dr. Woller and her Associates provide. This type of assessment is completed in order to evaluate and understand the social-emotional and psychological well-being of a child from the ages of 0-5.
Our infant mental health assessments focus on assessing various aspects of a young child's mental health, including their emotional regulation, attachment patterns, social interactions, and overall developmental functioning.
The assessment typically involves gathering information from multiple sources, including observations of the child's behavior, interactions with caregivers, and interviews with parents or primary caregivers.
Dr. Woller and her Associates use standardized assessment tools specifically designed for assessing infant mental health in addition to their clinical expertise and judgment.
The information gathered through the assessment helps Dr. Woller and her Associates identify any potential areas of concern and/or risks to the infant's mental health. It then guides the development of appropriate interventions, early support, recommendations and therapeutic strategies to promote the child's healthy emotional and social development.
A comprehensive assessment of intelligence, academic ability & emotional functioning, is used when a child is having difficulty across several areas of functioning.
Dr. Woller and her Associates use this type of assessment to not only help understand a child's levels of functioning, emotions or behaviors,
but may also assess a child's academic abilities, learning styles, intelligence quotient, neurocognative and executive functioning.
This is done by gathering information through interviews, questionnaires, standardized testing, and child observations. Dr. Woller and her Associates will also review and evaluate records that are provided to help understand the child's overall strengths, weaknesses, and patterns of behavior.
This comprehensive picture of the child's functioning helps identify specific areas of pathology that may then become the focus of treatment.
Dr. Woller and her Associates provide both learning disability and gifted assessments.
A learning disability assessment is a specialized evaluation conducted to not only determine if an individual has a learning disability but to also understand an individuals specific learning strengths and weaknesses.
Learning disabilities are neurodevelopmental disorders that affect an individual's ability to acquire, process, or use information effectively. These disabilities can impact various areas of learning, such as reading, writing, mathematics, and comprehension.
